24th August 2021. This bank holiday weekend sees the return of some of the biggest UK music festivals. All Points East Festival in London kicks off on Friday 27th and continues for 5 days with headliners including Foals, London Grammar, Jamie xx and Kano. Reading and Leeds Festival also starts on Friday 27th running for 3 days with headliners Liam Gallagher, Stormzy and Disclosure. Creamfields Festival starts on Thursday 26th continuing for 4 days with headliners Basement Jaxx, Carl Cox, The Chemical Brothers, Nina Kraviz, Pete Tong and Tiesto.

New Event

23rd August 2021. A new 3-day music festival has been given provisional approval by local licensing authorities for the summer of 2023. Organiser promoters SJM Concerts estimate allowing up to 40,000 festival-goers on each day with a working title of ‘City of Sheffield Music’ and a planned site in Hillsborough Park. The proposed festival has been rumored since early 2018 with the Arctic Monkeys likely contenders to headline.

22nd August 2021. Organisers of the 3-day festival in Gateshead moved from their traditional dates in May to August and scheduled for 27th - 29th August 2021. The festival will introduce a Retro Bar, in addition to Craft Can Bar, Cider bar, Premium lagers and a new food area. The music will be an eclectic mix covering all genres of music to suit all tastes, ranging from, Soul, Rock, Indie, Ska, Glam-Rock, Folk, Irish, Tributes, Traditional Northumbrian, Rockabilly to Male voice choirs. Andy Robertson - Sunday 22 August 2021

19th August 2021. Organisers of the fringe festival in Swansea have announced dates scheduled for 21st - 24th October 2021. The festival will feature more than 200 performances in venues across the city including music, poetry, comedy, film and other festivities. Highlighted performers confirmed include Trampolene, Phil Kay, Eric Ngalle Charles and Scott Matthews. A variety of ticket options are available now for anyone interested.

18th August 2021. Organisers of the 3 - day festival in Camber Sands East Sussex scheduled for 15th - 18th October 2021 have announced their lineup. The festival claims to showcase contemporary sounds for an educated generation and headliners include David Morales, Terry Farley, Fabio and Grooverider, Colin Dale, Atomic Hooligan, X-press2, Eddie Richards, Micky Finn, Normski, Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, Yam Who and Grant Nelson. 17th August 2021. The Safe Spaces Now initiative has be launched by UN Women UK in an effort to make the return of live music after the pandemic safer for women. Major music festival organsiers and performance artists have already signed their open letter to end sexual harassment for women at festivals and calling for change at live music venues and accountability for abusers

16th August 2021. After forging new partnerships with Fear Records plus support from Arts Council England and Lancaster BID organisers of the multi venue urban music festival have announced dates scheduled for 14th - 17th October 2021. The festival returns expecting up to 50,000 visitors and features 30 venues, 200 acts and 300 shows with a focus on young and emerging local acts however, orginasers are currently accepting performance artist applications from anywhere in the world.

Andy Robertson - Monday 16 August 2021

15th August 2021. One of the biggest music festivals in Wales is getting ready for 25,000 festival-goers for the 4-day event on 19th - 22nd August 2021. Headliners confirmed include Mogwai, Caribou, Fontaines DC, Tirzah, Thundercat, Teenage Fanclub, Django Django, The Staves and Nadine Shah. Visitors will need to have been double vaccinated two weeks before their arrival, or show they have taken a negative lateral flow test within 48 hours of arriving and face masks will not be required. The festival is sold out.

12th August 2021. The 4-day festival returns with a new venue situated in parkland close to Southwell in Nottinghamshire and scheduled for 2nd - 5th September 2021. Organisers say there will be an eclectic line-up of folksy, rootsy and acoustic music with headliners including The Young’uns, Gigspanner Big Band, Anxo Lorenzo Band, Spiers & Boden, Imar, The Breath, Edgelarks, The Henry Girls, Maroon Town, Track Dogs, Talisk, Reg Meuross, Harbottle & Jonas, The Activators and Chris Wood. 11th August 2021. The Jazz FM sponsored 5-day festival returns to the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, East Sussex on 26th - 30th August 2021. Headliners confirmed include Paul Carrack, Gabrielle, Incognito, Courtney Pine, MF Robots, Snowboy & The Latin Section, Rumer, Mica Paris, Ian Shaw and Liane Carroll. 10th August 2021. The biggest music festival in the North East of England is getting ready for 10,000 festival-goers for the 2-day event on 21st – 22nd August 2021. Headliners confirmed include Nile Rodgers and Chic, Rag 'n' Bone Man, Maximo Park, Rebecca Ferguson, Dennis, The Voluntears, Baltic, Razorlight, Dave Lee ZR, The Shapeshifters, Melvo Baptiste, Monki and legend Graeme Park. New Event

9th August 2021. A new 4-day folk music festival takes place in Gisburn Forest in Lancashire scheduled for 12th - 15th August 2021. Organisers state that the event will be a carefully curated weekend of music workshops, sessions and professional development opportunities. Some of the region’s most experienced educators and professional traditional music performers will be on hand to teach, mentor and share their skills including Ellis Davies, flautist Ellen McGovern and Rioghnach Connolly. 8th August 2021. Dorset environmental officers and the police say the organiser has failed to respond to their questions after a licensing review panel refused the application for the sale of alcohol. Tickets were being sold for £100 and it’s not known if buyers have received any refund. The local council expressed concerns over the lack of event experience of the orginasers particularly how the event would cope with the welfare of vulnerable, control of alcohol brought on to site, no details of a drug policy or a policy for looking after children.

4th August 2021. Organisers of the 3-day festival in Glasgow Green have confirmed their event has been granted permission to proceed on 10th - 12th September 2021. The festival will be capped at 50,000 festival-goers and the usual COVID-19 entry restrictions will apply. Headliners confirmed include Courteeners, Ian Brown, Sam Fender, Blossoms, Liam Gallagher, Primal Scream, Keane, The Chemical Brothers and Snow Patrol. All ticket types are still available for anyone interested.

3rd August 2021. Organisers of the 3-day festival in Glasgow’s Riverside Museum have confirmed their event will proceed on 3rd - 5th September 2021. There will be entry restrictions related to COVID-19 but these are yet to be announced. Headliners confirmed include Disclosure, Skream, Jamie xx and Maya Jane Coles. 2nd August 2021. Organisers of Ireland’s largest music festival stated that they have had no word from local authorities or the Irish government to state that the 70,000 capacity festival cannot go ahead on the scheduled dates of 24th – 26th September 2021 as planned. A statement from the Irish minister responsible for approving the festival said no decision had yet been made. The majority of tickets have been rolled over form 2020.

1st August 2021. Organisers of the 2 - day festival in Bristol’s Clifton Downs scheduled for 4th - 5th September 2021 have announced their final lineup. Headliners include Mahalia, Little Simz, Shy FX, Slowthai, Honey Dijon, Mella Dee, Hybrid Minds and King of the Rollers. New Event

29th July 2021. Organisers of the Creamfields brand have announced a new 2-day festival for Essex scheduled for 3rd - 4th June 2022. The new festival is an addition to their primary event held in Cheshire each year. The capacity for the new EDM festival is likely to be 50,000, currently no headliners have been announced. Anyone interested can register their email address now to be first in line when tickets go on sale.

27th July 2021. Organisers, Platform Live, have announced a new venue in Bristol’s City Centre and a confirmed date of 2nd October 2021 for the Sequences Festival. After agreement with local authorities the previously postponed festival from July is now likely to proceed with headliners Chase & Status plus many others. No other details were released.

COVID-19 Updates

26th July 2021. Organisers of the 4-day festival in Scotland have made the decision to cancel their festival that was scheduled for of 12th - 15th August 2021. Organisers stated that there were too many uncertainties as COVID related restrictions aren't due to be lifted until 9th August which is too tight. The festival is rescheduled for 14th - 17th July 2022. Headliners were to include Dizzee Rascal, Sleaford Mods, Camera Obscura, Teenage Fanclub and 10CC among many others. Tickets can be rolled over to next year.

New Event

25th July 2021. A new 4 - day festival has been announced scheduled for 2nd - 5th September 2021. The line-up will not be announced until the day before the festival opens encouraging visitors to attend with an open mind as they discover new music and new talent. The festival will feature a celebration of music, wellness and connection bringing women and non-binary artists to the front and supporting emerging talent. Limited tickets are available now.

22nd July 2021. The free to attend festival will be held in Victoria Park, London on 31st August - 2nd September 2021. The Neighbourhood festival runs as part of the main All Points East festival where headliners announced include Bicep, Kano, Foals and Bombay Bicycle Club. For the main festival tickets are still available to buy.

21st July 2021. The 4-day festival in Suffolk will open to its full capacity of 40,000 on Thursday 22nd July 2021. Visitors will require proof of full vaccination or proof of a negative NHS Lateral Flow Test or proof of natural immunity. COVID-19 Updates

20th July 2021. Organisers of the 4-day festival in Dorset have announced their COVID-19 entry requirements for the event on 29th July - 1st August 2021. As with most large festivals visitors will require proof of full vaccination or proof of a negative NHS Lateral Flow Test taken prior to travel on the day of arrival at the festival, or proof of natural immunity based upon a positive PCR test within 180 days of the festival. Limited day tickets are still available.

19th July 2021. Organisers of the 3-day festival on the Isle of Wight have made the decision to cancel their festival just 2 weeks after suggesting that the festival will go ahead on the proposed dates of 31st July - 1st August 2021. Organisers stated safety concerns as the main reason for the cancellation, headliners were to include 808 State, LTJ Bukem, Roni Size, Kosheen and Stanton Warriors.

16th July 2021. Organisers of the 4-day festival in the Brecon Beacons have confirmed their event will proceed on 19th – 22nd August 2021. For festival-goers intending to attend Green Man they will have to demonstrate they have received a negative NHS lateral flow test within 48hrs prior to their arrival, or demonstrate that they have received 2 vaccinations at least 14 days prior to their arrival. Headliners confirmed include Mogwai, Caribou, Little Dragon and Fontaines DC. The festival is totally sold out.

COVID-19 Updates

15th July 2021 (Business Insider). Nearly a thousand people tested positive for the coronavirus after attending a two-day outdoor festival (Verknipt festival), in the Netherlands on the weekend of July 3. Figures from health officials in Utrecht indicated that 448 were exposed during the first day of the festival, and 516 the second day. The festival, which attracted about 20,000 visitors, was one of the first after the country relaxed its COVID-19 measures on June 26.
