4th January 2022. Organisers of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta have confirmed the dates for this year as 11th - 14th August 2022 as the popular event returns after a 2-year absence. The event regularly attracts up to 500,000 visitors and features balloon mass ascents along with evening fireworks displays and live music. The event takes place at Bristol’s Ashton Court estate.

New Event

3rd January 2022. A new 3-day music festival has been announced for Blackburn at the 15,000 capacity Ewood Park stadium scheduled for 27th - 29th May 2022. The SummerFest have released their line-up that includes The Human League, Midge Ure, Kim Wilde, Culture Club, UB40, Howard Jones, Limahl and Aswad. COVID-19 Updates

31st December 2021. The 5-day EDM music festival in Cancun has been cancelled. The festival had already been moved from April 2021 to the new dates of 13th - 17th January 2022. The organisers, LiveOne, have cited concerns over the surge in Omicron cases as a reason for the cancellation. The event was the feature Liquid Stranger, Zeds Dead, REZZ, GRiZ, Dillon Francis, Drezo, Yung Gravy, Clozee, Lucii, and Chomppa.

30th December 2021. Organisers of the 2-day music festival in New Zealand have announced on their Facebook page that some of their headliners have pulled out after either testing positive for Omicron or as a precaution. The festival started yesterday and goes on until 31st December, it was already mandated for visitors to be 100% vaccinated. The headliners that pulled out were Friction, Dimension and Lee Mvtthews.

29th December 2021. Organisers of the 3-day arts and electronic music festival in Belgium have announced headliners for the event scheduled for 29th April - 1st May 2022. The event has moved from its traditional September dates to spring next year. New Event

28th December 2021. A new 2-day ski and snowboard festival has been announced in the Scottish ski resort of Glencoe scheduled for 27th - 28th March 2022. Called The Mighty Coe, it will feature a variety of winter sports activities plus vendors, an expo and night time entertainment. 24th December 2021. Organisers of the Celtic Connections festival scheduled for 20th January - 6th February have made an announcement regarding new restrictions. New guidelines issued by the Scottish Government in light of Omicron have meant that a small number of shows for the event may be cancelled. This is an evolving situation.

23rd December 2021. Organisers of the American underground and house music festival in Arizona have announced the first wave of headliners for the event scheduled for 4th - 6th March 2022. Headliners announced are Adam Beyer, Carl Cox, Boris Brejcha, and Kaskade. Other artists announced include Dombresky b2b Noizu, Drezo, Eats Everything, Hannah Wants, Kasablanca, Kyle Watson, RebÅ«ke, Shiba San, Sohmi, Teenage Mutants, Township Rebellion, and Wax Motif. 22nd December 2021. A new 3-day music festival to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is being planned for Leighton Hall in Carnforth scheduled for 3rd - 5th June 2022. The announcement on a new Facebook page gives little information although the organisers are the same people behind the Highest Point festival at Williamson Park also in Lancashire scheduled for 12th - 14th May 2022.

COVID-19 Updates

21st December 2021. Organisers of the Larmer Tree music festival have announced that their 2022 event will now not go ahead. The announcement states that the disruption caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic means holding the event in 2022 is too risky. This will be the third year that the festival has been cancelled, it last took place in 2019.

7th December 2021. The Southbank Centre in London will be running its 20th children's festival scheduled for 9th - 20th February 2022. Imagine Children’s Festival is dedicated to families experiencing and enjoying all kinds of art and culture together. There are 160 events in 12 days with over half of the festival being completely free. The annual event features children's theatre, comedy, music, literature, dance and full-on fun for children and their grown-ups.

24th November 2021. Promoters DF Concerts and Events have announced a new music festival for Scotland scheduled for 26th - 28th August 2022. The Connect festival was last run in 2008 so it’s more of a relaunch, no further details have been released yet. The promoter is also behind the popular TRNSMT and Summer Sessions festivals in Scotland.
